Fripp Island Resort and the Beaufort Charities have been in partnership with our annual golf tournament for over 35 years. To call Fripp Island a sponsor of our event would not begin to explain how important they are to the success of the golf tournament. At every level of involvement with Fripp, we are received with genuine concern for the welfare of the event and thus the welfare of our participants and our local need recipient organizations. We are looking forward to many more years of working together and we know our participants love our event in a large part because of where it is hosted.
Jared Newman came to Beaufort in 1982 with the intention of returning to his home town, Charleston, SC in two years. Thirty-three years later, he is still here and intends to stay. He calls Beaufort ”Charleston-Lite”. Beaufort has all the natural wonders of the coast, wetlands, beach, river and woodland of Charleston, yet it has retained all the charm and grace of a fine small southern town with a real sense of community.
After graduating from USC with a degree in criminal justice, he proudly served with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy and detective for five years. After graduating USC School of Law, he served with the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office for five years as a prosecutor. He was the first full-time assistant solicitor permanently stationed in Beaufort.
His mission as a private trial attorney is the same as with his governmental service. In both capacities he has sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution of our country with vigor. His role is the same whether enforcing the laws or defending citizens, and that role is to jealously defend the rights of my countrymen whether in criminal or civil court.
He is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in South Caroline, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is a trial attorney practicing in criminal defense, civil rights violations, wrongful death actions and serious accident cases. In addition, his front porch at 1508 Paris Avenue in Port Royal is usually open after 5pm for serious discussions or just to shoot the breeze.
Jared is married to the love of his life, Cindy, and they are the proud parents of Dustin, Jared, Regan, and Taylor. He and his family have been sponsors of the Beaufort Charities for the past 13 years and our Presenting Sponsor for 3 years. His family’s generous contributions enable our event to provide the best experience possible for our participants, volunteers, fellow sponsors and our community need organizations. Please join us in thanking Jared, his family, and his paralegal Dawn Erwin for their support of our annual event.
Henry J. Lee, Sr., purchased Pilot Beer Wholesalers, the “Low Country” Schlitz Distributor, in 1961, after working at the company for many years. In 1963, Mr. Lee changed the name of the company to Henry J. lee Distributors, Inc. The company remained a “family owned” business, run subsequently by Mr. Lee’s two sons, Henry, Jr., and Dennis. Over the next 45 years, the company took on the distribution rights to such brands as Miller Lite, Coors Light, Corona, Guinness, Yuengling and Stella Artois, Sweetwater, Holy City, to name a few.
On April 3, 2006, Henry J. Lee Distributors, Inc. was acquired by Reyes Holdings, L.L.C., and renamed Henry J. Lee Distributors, L.L.C., doing business as Lee Distributors. The Reyes Holdings Beverage Group is the nation’s largest beer distribution group, selling more than 100 million cases annually. The Beverage Group currently operates distributorships in Southern California, Chicago, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Southern Virginia, Maryland, Florida and South Carolina. In addition to the beer business, Reyes Holdings owns Martin-Brower, which is the largest McDonald’s distributor nationwide, as well as Reinhardt Foods, a broad line food services company.
